John Deere Drive Green introduces new products to ABAC

On Thursday, Feb. 26, representatives from John Deere set up an exhibit on the ABAC campus allowing students to view, drive, and ask questions about John Deere equipment and vehicles.
The purpose of the John Deere Drive Green event was to introduce all of the new utility tractors; allow students and community members to learn more about John Deere, it's products, and it's dealers and their efforts to become more environmentally friendly.
Patrick Sikora, John Deere regional representative from Valdosta, feels that overall the event was a success.
"It's been a very good day. I think we had several hundred people come through. We had a good show in the arena, several people have been able to drive our tractors, and I think our dealers have had the opportunity to meet a lot of people that will benefit their business in the future," Sikora said.
Students had the opportunity to view the latest models of the Drive Green series, test drive several different vehicles, ask questions to qualified representatives, and receive free merchandise such as hats and tee shirts.
The John Deere representatives also provided a free lunch for those students who came through the exhibit.
Sara Ervin, sophomore and President of the ABAC chapter of the National FFA Organization (Future Farmers of America) agreed that the exhibit was both entertaining and informational.
"It was interesting to me to see that John Deere is making a conscious effort to help the Green Revolution by creating tractors that are environmentally friendly using fuels such as bio-diesel and ethanol. If John Deere can do something to help the cause, it makes me think that other large corporations, both in and out of the agricultural industry, can do the same thing," Ervin said.
