Over the years, Kid Rock has earned the reputation of being a bad boy with a rough exterior and equipped with attitude to spare. On his new CD, "Rock N Roll Jesus," Kid Rock maintains his tough attitude and mixes in just the right amount of fun. Virtually the whole world was exposed to his first release off the album called "All Summer Long," which was an instant hit. It received a large amount of radio play this summer and scored Kid Rock a very successful number one hit. The songs on the CD range from inspirational ballads to fast tunes where lyrics are spit out with all the force and fury of a mainstream rap album. However, many of the songs have a country sound, which, surprisingly, Kid Rock pulls off amazingly well. "Half Your Age" and "Blue Jeans and a Rosary" are both solid country songs that would probably do well on country radio as well as in the rock genre.
One of the more inspirational songs is "Amen." The lyrics alone are enough to make the listener think about their position and blessings in life. It talks about starving children, dying soldiers, and disgraces in society ranging from abominations in church to the dehumanization of society. The song ends on a note of hope, asking the listener to find Jesus and live life as best you can because the days we have are precious. Overall, this album provides the listener with a song for most any emotion and occasion. Pleasure and pain, heartache and love, despair and hope-all emotions are explored exposed. Personally, I am not a big fan of rock music. I prefer to listen to country. However, this album makes me reconsider my previously stated preferences. My favorite song on this album is "Half Your Age." If you like fun songs that everyone can sing along to, you will love this one.
