The talent bug was unleashed Wednesday night and left a lasting sting on ABAC at the annual Open Mic Night hosted by the ABAC Resident Hall Association.

Nikki Thompson, RHA president continued the legacy with Open Mic Night, which took place in the Lakeside lobby on Feb.10 at 8pm.

"This program was successful in the past, so we tried to get more involvement this time and it worked!" Nikki Thompson said

Many students were given the opportunity to showcase their hidden talents and skills.
Who would have known that the people we pass on an everyday basis while going to class had so much talent?

Pegasus member Izzy Green stole the spotlight. Green was unaware that she was to perform that night, but she wowed the crowd with her reading of a poem that she wrote.

Not only did she share her poetry on the spot, but she also ended her performance with a personal rendition of Christina Aguilera famous pop song "I'm OK."

All contestants did an amazing job, but awards went to Chris Pitts, who captured 1st place with his rendition of "Geehaw Whoaback," an original song about life as a stallion.

Izzy Green captured 2nd place with her poem, and 3rd place went to a student who did stand-up comedy routine referring to the distance it takes to get from Lakeside to a class ALL the way on the other side of the campus.

Other performances included sophomore guitar player and singer Justin Sheppard, comedian Will Simon, singer and guitar player Jessica Padgett, and piano player and singer Michael Johnson.

Open Mic Night was truly an event not worth missing, and many more events are sure to follow. Other events planned for the semester include Military Mail, Laundry Feast, Salsa Dancing, Hidden Study Tips, - Easter Egg Hunt, and cook outs.

RHA meets every Tuesday at 5pm, alternating between the Lakeside Multi Purpose Room and Town Hall.

All students living on campus are welcomed under the RHA constitution. Each has a right to attend meetings and to participate in all campus-wide activities supported and/or sponsored by RHA.
