Howard Auditorium was packed with parents, students and photographers trying to capture the moment when one lucky young man and young lady were awarded the title of Mr. and Ms. ABAC. Freshman Cain Thurmond walked away with the title of Mr. ABAC 2010 while Sophomore Savannah Brown captured the title of Ms. ABAC.

Cain Thurmond is an Agricultural Business and Agricultural Economics major from Jefferson, Ga., and took his crown on Thursday, Feb. 18.

"I'm humbled to be chosen as Mr. ABAC," Thurmond said. "I look forward to serving in the capacity in the coming year for present and future students."

Other finalists included Tremaine Dupree, an Early Childhood Education major from Willacoochee, who won Best Dressed; Colton Farrow, an Animal Science/Pre-Veterinary Medicine major from Pitts, who won Most Likely to be a Captain; Michael Gill, a Political Science major from Sylvester, who captured both Best Eyes and the Contestants' award; Felipe Pedraza, an Agricultural Education major from Sylvania, who won Best Interview; and Thomas Turcotte, a Pre-Veterinary Medicine major from Ranger, who also won Best Hair.

On the following Thursday, February 25, Savannah Brown was crowned Ms. ABAC 2010.
Savannah Brown is a sophomore Science major from Douglas, Georgia.

"It is an honor to receive such an award. I will represent ABAC and wear my title proudly," Brown said.

Other finalists for the Ms. ABAC pageant included Whitney Mitchell, Kristin Card, Jessica Padgett, Jazmin Thomas, Haley Thigpen and Lauren Higginbotham.

Jazmin Thomas won the Best Interview award, Kendall Vance won Miss Congeniality, Shiree Dorminy won the Essay award and Haley Thigpen won the People's Choice award. Unlike the other awards, the People's Choice award was voted on by the judges and was based on the amount of money raised by the contestant.

Proceeds from the Ms. ABAC pageant went towards ABAC scholarships and Relay for Life.
The Mr. ABAC Contest was sponsored, produced, and directed by the Family and Consumer Sciences Club, while Ms. ABAC was sponsored by the Agricultural Business Club.
