ABAC on the Square's showcase, "Evening on the Square" on Feb. 23 showed local students and their parents just what ABAC has to offer.
"We've been here since 1947, and my expectations are that we'll be here in another 47 years," President David Bridges said.
The showcase began at 6:15 p.m. and ran until 7 p.m. During that time, future ABAC students and their parents were introduced to Director of ABAC on the Square Kay Powell, as well as several faculty members from the main campus. These faculty members included Vice President of Student Affairs Gail Dillard and Vice President of Enrollment Services Donna Webb.
"I think students can be on a campus for five minutes and know whether or not they see themselves being a part of that," Webb said.
After the faculty members were introduced, several Moultrie campus students were introduced. These students each gave details about how attending ABAC on the Square has been beneficial to them, and how helpful the faculty and staff have been.
"We have an average of about 300-350 students enrolled here every semester, and we have a really good mix of traditional and non-traditional students," Powell said.
Two non-traditional students, Music major Mark Cunningham and Child Education major Alberta Richardson, both stated how ABAC on the Square helped them get through college after a long hiatus after high school.
"My advisor is always pushing me when I'm about to give up," Richardson said. "If you're going to start college, the best to start is at home."
Joint-enrollment student Bo Weathers spoke of the benefits of taking college classes while still in high school.
"I get college credit for English 1101 and 1102, so when I transfer, it will be accepted at any university I transfer to in Georgia," Weathers said. "It's a great experience that I recommend to any junior who would like to further their education and get a head-start on college."
